Marc Ryckmans

Marc is a multidiscipline lawyer who works across a range of practices, and has more than 25 years of experience acting for and against administrators, liquidators, receivers, company directors, debtors and creditors in the context of voluntary administrations, creditors’ voluntary liquidations, court liquidations and receiverships. He also provides broad transactional support for corporate, commercial and property practices.

Marc has a diverse client base that includes major accounting firms, commercial and investment banks, trading houses, insurance companies, publicly listed companies, insolvency investors, entrepreneurs and high net-worth individuals.

He has been involved in a number of high profile and complex matters, ranging from multi-million dollar real estate and leasing transactions to restructuring the gold hedge book of Australia’s largest miner.

Marc graduated from law from the University of Sydney in 1989 and is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales. He was admitted to practice in Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in 1990. Marc is a frequent speaker and writer on subjects related to insolvency. He also serves on the boards of several private companies.

Louis Ryckmans

Louis has had more than 25 years experience in all aspects of civil litigation, including trying numerous corporate and commercial cases in New York in both state and federal trial and appellate courts. Louis’ experience includes representation of investment banks, airlines, foreign and domestic companies, insurance companies, individual investors and entrepreneurs.

Louis earned his law degrees from University of Sydney (LL.B.) and Fordham University in New York (LL.M.) in International Business and Trade Law. He was admitted to practice as a solicitor in both the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in 1990. Louis was also admitted to practice in the Courts of the State of New York and before the federal courts for both the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York in 1994.

Louis returned to Australia in 2003 and worked at Blake Dawson Waldron and Abbott Tout. He is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales, the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.

Martin Rosenblatt

Martin has more than 30 years of legal experience, beginning from practicing in well-respected New York firms specialising mainly in commercial litigation.  He then ran his own practice where he continued to specialise in commercial litigation while also acting as outside general counsel for various entrepreneurial companies in the recording, fashion and IT industries, advising on employment, intellectual property, tax and transactional matters. Marty's main areas of practice are insolvency, director and shareholder matters, corporations and banking law, business fraud and general contract and property related disputes.

Martin relocated to Sydney in 2001 and worked as a Senior Associate at Abbott Tout, concentrating in commercial litigation with an emphasis on company and insolvency law and property related disputes. At Abbott Tout, Martin also handled insurance, construction, intellectual property and employment related litigations and acted for clients in a number of transactional matters including re-financings and asset sales. Martin was one of the founding principals of Somerset Ryckmans in 2007.

Martin graduated cum laude from New York University in 1983 and earned a Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1987.

Gia Kaur

Gia has been a solicitor with Somerset Ryckmans since 2010 and has extensive experience in debt recovery, conveyancing, wills, probate and estate.

Gia graduated from University of Western Sydney in 2006 with Bachelors of Law and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice in addition to her Bachelors of Arts. Gia was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2007.

Prior to joining Somerset Ryckmans as a Senior Associate, Gia worked for another well-respected Sydney law firm. Gia is multilingual and fluent in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.

Anna Kuznetsova

Anna has been a Solicitor with Somerset Ryckmans since 2018. Her areas of expertise include insolvency, corporations, civil litigation and bankruptcy.

Anna has more than 15 years of legal experience. Prior to joining Somerset Ryckmans, Anna had her own practice in Russia where she specialised in commercial litigation and insolvency law as a solicitor and at the bar. Anna earned her law degree in Russia in 2006. She obtained a Juris Doctor degree with distinction from the University of NSW in 2017. Anna has been admitted as a barrister in Russia since 2007 and as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales since 2018.
